SMART Recovery - A peer support group alternative to AA/NA

I encourage clients to consider the ways that peer support groups in the community can support their recovery efforts. Many people, even those who do not consider themselves spiritual, can benefit from the social support aspects of AA/NA meetings. But for those who don't find 12-step groups helpful, SMART Recovery is a peer support group option that is based on Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. SMART Recovery meetings focus on evidence-based strategies to support recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. The SMART Recovery website has useful self-help tools as well as links to local and online support groups.
